Brief Description: The Japanese government is offering international students with outstanding academic performance a full scholarship to study at GRIPS. All international students applying for the Young Leaders Program at GRIPS are welcome to apply for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships. The selection for this scholarship is on a merit basis and there are just very few scholarships available so the competition is tight.

Level/Field of Study: Master of Public Administration or Master of Public Policy
Scholarship Value: The scholarship offers qualified students a monthly stipend of 242,000 yen per month (rate in FY 2019; the amount is subject to change) to cover living expenses such as food, clothing, and other daily expenses, as well as accommodation, transportation, medical treatment, insurance, and various miscellaneous expenses related to the study at GRIPS. Successful applicants will also be given economy-class air tickets to travel to Japan and back to their country when they complete their studies.
Eligibility:
Only applicants from countries with which Japan has diplomatic relations. are eligible to apply.
Applicants must have at least three years of working experience
Students must obtain a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second-class honors (Upper Credit) or higher or its equivalent.
Applicants are required to first receive an offer of admission for a Master’s program at the University.
International students must also show leadership qualities and should be considered potential leaders in the future.

Application deadline: The scholarship occurs every year. The application deadline is usually around mid-October but applicants must check with their Japanese embassies for the submission date to the embassies.
