The Olds College Centre for Innovation has one opportunity available for a student research assistant. The position will assist the Technology Access Centre for Livestock Production and the Wetlands Research Division with several research projects that include data collection, interpretation, and general assistance with ongoing trials.
Duties will include:
- Livestock husbandry, including handling, feeding and processing
- Vegetation and water management in both a greenhouse and field setting
- Data collection, database entry and interpretation of results
- Coordinating sample collections for research projects
The successful candidate will be physically fit for the required livestock and wetland research activities and able to work with minimal supervision. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and multitasking skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a keen interest in learning more about livestock and wetland research. Experience with experimental data collection, livestock handling and record keeping is considered an asset.
This position requires the incumbent to provide and wear their own CSA approved footwear. Temporary employees shall be paid, in addition to their regular rate of pay, fourteen percent (14%) of their earnings in lieu of vacation and named statutory holidays.
